PD Warns Against Texting And Driving With Hearse PSA

The Wyckoff photo campaign comes on the heels of a Beatles-inspired photo promoting pedestrian safety.

R U TXTNG N DRVNG?

The Wyckoff Police Department is asking residents that question in a new photo campaign aimed to show drivers the serious consequences of the illegal act.

The photo juxtaposes a police car and Wyckoff Patrolman Kyle Ferreira against a hearse and Craig Booth from Vander Plaat Funeral Home. The image is staged in front of a local cemetery.

The warning from Chief Benjamin Fox and the Wyckoff PD is direct - "Take a look at this picture. Remember it. If you continue to text and drive, one of us is going to get you. Either way, it doesn't end well for you."

The PSA comes on the heels of one in May modeled after the Beatles's famous Abbey Road album cover. That image, which was recreated by members of the township's police department, was meant to create awareness around pedestrian safety, and garnered a lot of attention in the community.

Fox said he hopes the new image and campaign will do the same for texting and driving.

"The goal is to create awareness of the problem," Fox said. "I'm ok with achieving that in any way I can."
