Paterson Man Pleads Guilty to Failed Wyckoff Pizzeria Robbery

According to a report, the Dominican national agreed to a prison sentence and deportation in exchange for his guilty plea.

A Paterson man will serve seven years in prison and then be deported for his role in the botched 2012 armed robbery of a Wyckoff pizzeria, CliffviewPilot.com reported.

According to the report, Luis Diaz, 23, a Dominican national, pleaded guilty to armed robbery last week. He also agreed to testify against his two alleged accomplices, Nicole Gorter, 20, of North Haledon, and Jose Navarrohidalgo, 29, of Paterson, the report said.

Diaz told prosecutors that the group had planned to rob a pizzeria at gunpoint, but decided against it when they saw security cameras, the report said. Diaz said the group did go to the store owner’s home, but ran away after he answered the door, the report said. Wyckoff and Midland Park police found the trio shortly after, it said.
