A Paterson man was arrested for driving while intoxicated in Wyckoff Sunday after telling police he was born on a date that didn't quite exist.
Sgt. Michael Ragucci was clocking vehicles with a radar gun on Route 208 at approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26, when he observed a vehicle traveling 83 mph, said.
Ragucci pulled over the driver, who stated he had forgotten his license. He provided what he said was his name, address and, most importantly, his date of birth: February 31, 1970.
A date you'll never find on any legit calendar.
The alert officer investigated further and, through a computer check, discovered that that the vehicle had been stopped recently by another police agency, according to Wyckoff cops.
Ragucci finally identified the driver as Jose R. Guzman, 42, of Paterson.
Guzman was arrested at the scene for DWI and it was later determined that there was an active warrant for his arrest from the Wanaque Police Department.
Guzman was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, providing false information to a law enforcement officer and driving while his license was revoked. He was turned over to Wanaque Police on the warrant, Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox said.
His real birthday, by the way, was January 19, 1970.
