Overturned Car on Ewing Ave Exit

No major injuries reported; bystander suffers cardiac event.

The exit ramp from Route 208 North to Ewing Avenue has been reopened following a rollover car accident at around 2:15 p.m. today. Four people were taken to the hospital, one with minor injuries, two children as a precaution, and one for a possible heart attack.

According to police, the driver, a 75-year-old Hackensack man, flipped the car on the exit ramp. His two grandsons, ages 10 and 12, both from Franklin Lakes were also in the car.  The driver sustained a bloody nose and was taken to the hospital; his grandsons had no obvious injuries, but were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. A passing motorist who stopped to assist suffered some type of cardiac event while helping the passengers out of the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital.

Three ambulances were dispatched to the scene, two from Franklin Lakes and one from Wyckoff, as well as the Franklin Lakes Fire Department.
