Multiple People Injured in 3-Car Accident at Godwin and Park Avenues

Midland Park Police closed Godwin Avenue from Irving Street to Central Avenue for approximately one hour Wednesday night

Several people were injured in a three-car accident Wednesday night in Midland Park, officials on the scene said. Police detoured vehicle traffic around a stretch of the busy thoroughfare for almost an hour while crews tended to the injured and cleaned up the scene.

Multiple emergency responders at the scene of the accident at Godwin and Park avenues said that "3 or 4 people" were sent to the hospital following this crash. The accident occurred around 8 p.m.

The extent of their injuries, as well as the cause of the accident, was not immediately clear as of Wednesday evening.

Police had set up a detour that stretched from the intersection of Godwin and Centeral avenues to Godwin Avenue and Irving Street.

Midland Park Police Department, Fire Department and Volunteer Ambulance Corps, as well as responded to the scene.

At approximately 8:41 p.m. two vehicles from Citywide Towing began to clear the scene with the three involved vehicles in tow. 

The front ends of two vehicles appeared to be heavily damaged, along with the rear end of another vehicle.

Roads were reopened to traffic shortly after the towing company removed the damaged vehicles.
