Multiple People Injured in 3-Car Accident at Godwin and Park Avenues

Midland Park Police closed Godwin Avenue from Irving Street to Central Avenue for approximately one hour Wednesday night

Several people were injured in a three-car accident Wednesday night in Midland Park, officials on the scene said. Police detoured vehicle traffic around a stretch of the busy thoroughfare for almost an hour while crews tended to the injured and cleaned up the scene.

Multiple emergency responders at the scene of the accident at Godwin and Park avenues said that "3 or 4 people" were sent to the hospital following this crash. The accident occurred around 8 p.m.

The extent of their injuries, as well as the cause of the accident, was not immediately clear as of Wednesday evening.

Police had set up a detour that stretched from the intersection of Godwin and Centeral avenues to Godwin Avenue and Irving Street.

Midland Park Police Department, Fire Department and Volunteer Ambulance Corps, as well as responded to the scene.

At approximately 8:41 p.m. two vehicles from Citywide Towing began to clear the scene with the three involved vehicles in tow.

The front ends of two vehicles appeared to be heavily damaged, along with the rear end of another vehicle.

Roads were reopened to traffic shortly after the towing company removed the damaged vehicles.

Glad to see MP's finest standing around having a good time.
Sherry Windsong August 16, 2012 at 01:43 PM
Hey, they were there to help. You may need them too one day!
B Sentinal August 16, 2012 at 03:18 PM
right sherry, help me drink beer maybe.
AML August 16, 2012 at 05:31 PM
What a pathetic and insensitive statement to have made! Did you take the time to read the caption underneath the photo which stated that they were waiting for the command to be terminiated? These brave men and women put their lives on the line to assist others and you have the audacity to mock them? They are volunteers and they should be applauded. What have you done lately to contribute to humankind, besides making a derogatory comment? Let's see if you will laugh when either your life, or a family member's life is in jeopardy & you need the assistance of MP finest. You are a disgrace to society & should apologize to these fine citizens of MP.
AML August 16, 2012 at 05:36 PM
As I said above, you are a disgrace to humankind! You continue to joke about a serious matter by incorporating beer into this topic. Go crawl into a hole & drink your beer into oblivion! Society will not miss a loser as yourself!
B Sentinal August 16, 2012 at 06:08 PM
wow, I hope I can stop laughing long enough to type this.....Have you ever been at a firehouse? I have family who have been firemen and police officers. The fact there are elaborate bars and game rooms set up in our local firehouses are the real disgrace. sitting around, having a good time, drinking some beer - then the fire alarm rings, now what? That puts MY LIFE on the line, does it not? What about these "brave" men who race way above the speed limit to be the first one to the fire house? Does that not put my life on the line? I hear the fire whistle go off and I get off the road - to protect my life. Get over yourself AML and open your eyes to what is really happening. Carefull where you point those fingers of disgrace......
AML August 16, 2012 at 06:29 PM
My fingers are pointed in the right direction! You obviously have a negative perception and generalize & categorize all fireman to be slovenly and to place the general public's lives in danger because they are too busy socializing, drinking beer, and having fun in the firehouses. Abuse happens in all walks of life but to group all firemen into one category is shameful! As a matter of fact, I have friends & family members both in NJ & NY in high ranking positions both in the fire & police departments, but unlike you, I have the decency to have respect and I also have the decency not to categorize all in one group. Hopefully, you will learn a lesson the hard way when you will need help in life, & there will not be anyone to help you because you have alienated all through your prejudical rant. I have friends & relatives in very high ranks both in NJ & NY
B Sentinal August 16, 2012 at 06:52 PM
AML, I am not impressed. I seak of what I see in my local comunity. Perhaps an investigation into how my tax dollars fund these "abusive" indecent, disrespectful, and wasteful bars and playrooms is in order. You know people in high ranks, congrats. so do I, so calm down. Do you also have a PBA sheild in your windshield and think you are above the law too?
AML August 16, 2012 at 07:31 PM
I am not in the business of impressing. Sorry to disappoint! You firstly mentioned that you have family who are policemen and firemen & I simply responded to your comment that I also do. You are poking at ashes as you have nothing substantial to say. Why are you asking me if I have a PBA shield and if I think that I am above the law? Why don't you stick to the substance of the topic and not digress into fiction which have nothing to do with the issue? I do not have a shield, nor, do I feel that I am above the law. I am a citizen who has respect for emergency personnel and I do not categorize & generalize all emergency personnel as you have done. Why don't you go to a mayor & town council meeting & bring up the so called Play-Area/entertainment area & wasteful bar areas that you allege is in your community? Ranting on the Patch will not change things....go ahead, go to the appropriate personnel & have a field day with your tell-all!

I happen to live in MP and will go on the record saying these firefighters are, on an everyday basis, the best of the best. Fastest reaction time to a call and even in extreme calls, are faster than the first responders. Poke fun and argue all you want, in MP I know I'm SAFE 100% of the time.
Chris August 18, 2012 at 11:44 AM
B Sentinal sounds like one who attempted to become both a firefighter and a police officer but was rejected by both
AML August 18, 2012 at 04:17 PM
Excellent point Chris! Thanks to everyone who praised MP emergency personnel for the service that they perform...EXECPT B. Sentinal who has disdain & harbors such animosity towards these fine men and women. Apparently, this individual is the only one who has written negative comments about the emergency personnel. Please do not ever dial 911 & expect help from the very same people & volunteers that you have berated. Perhaps, you have the skills to perform CPR on yourself or a family member, or, as the other individual stated, take a garden house to douse the flames when your house is on fire!
AML August 18, 2012 at 04:19 PM
meant to say .....take a garden hose (not garden house) to douse the flames when your house is on fire....
mpisbs August 20, 2012 at 02:27 AM
Thank God my taxes dont fund that awefull town anymore. The cops and firemen never had it so good. Way to go b sentnal. The rest of youboys are a joke but you make me laugh, thanks for that.
Bergen Watcher August 24, 2012 at 04:55 PM
I think that's a bit harsh....yes, I've seen some serious drinking going on at the firehouse but these guys do take their job seriously and frankly, put themselves in harms way more than the MPPD does. Sounds like you had a kid that didn't make a travel team so you left town......good riddance.
