Lincoln Students Evacuated after Fire Alarm

Students, teachers left the Mason Avenue school for less than an hour Monday morning

students and faculty were out in the cold for a short time after a false alarm rang out at the Mason Avenue school Monday morning.

According to a fire fighter at the scene, equipment malfunction — a faulty head — was the source of the alarm. Wyckoff Police on the scene confirmed that the evacuation was a result of a false alarm.

At least three Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department trucks and the Wyckoff Police Department responded just before 10:30 a.m.

Teachers and students were lined up neatly and calmly off school property along Mason Avenue and along the north side of the school parking lot before returning to the building after a short time.

Firefighters cleared the alarm and emergency responders left the scene around 10:40 a.m. Less than five minutes later the alarm sounded for a second time and fire crews returned to the school to confirm that the alarm was indeed once again false.
