Home Burglary on Peachtree Lane

Suspects flee police after Tuesday night burglary. Second home break-in this week.

A burglary at a Peachtree Lane home resulted in a police chase in which five suspects escaped on Tuesday.

According to police, at 9:29 p.m. Tuesday, Officer Jon Rynander responded to a reported burglar alarm at a Peachtree Lane residence. Upon his arrival, he observed a number of persons in the rear yard flee and he gave chase. It was determined that the residence had been burglarized, with five suspects involved.  Three escaped on foot, two escaped in a light colored mini-van.

This is the second home burglary reported this week and the seventh for the year. On Monday, jewelry was reported stolen from a Smoke Hollow Trail home.

On Tuesday's burglary, police said entry was gained by forcing open the front doors.  The bedrooms were ransacked and it appears that jewelry was taken.  The Bergen County Police K9 unit assisted to track the suspects with negative results.  The Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Unit processed the scene.   Wyckoff Police assisted with the search.  No arrests were made.  Lt. John Bakelaar, and Officers William Cook, Gerard Gansel and Jon Rynander investigated.

The police department would once again, like to advise residents that the best method of deterring a burglary is to make your home appear to be occupied.  An alarm system in itself is not enough to deter all burglars.  Connecting interior lights to timers is an excellent method that will give the appearance of occupancy.
