Wyckoff Fire Department Helps Battle Stubborn Hawthorne House Fire

At least one firefighter treated on scene for minor injury

Wyckoff was among local fire departments responding to a stubborn house fire in Hawthorne Wednesday afternoon.

Dozens of firefighters battled the mid-day blaze, which could be seen licking through the roof of the two story home on the corner of Eighth and Genevieve avenues in Hawthorne.

All occupants of the home were removed shortly after the fire broke out around 2 p.m., according to a Hawthorne firefighter on the scene.

One firefighter was treated on the scene for a minor injury, as of 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Hawthorne command called a number of fire departments in to assist on mutual aid, including Wyckoff and North Haledon. Glen Rock and Midland Park were called to respond as back up while Hawthorne worked to knock down the fire.
