Franklin Lakes Woman Who Was Texting And Driving Kills Motorcyclist On Route 17 In Paramus

A Franklin Lakes woman who was texting while driving caused a multi-vehicle crash on Route 17 in Paramus on Friday afternoon that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist from Elmwood Park, cliffviewpilot.com has reported.

Nadine Nixon, 21, was charged with reckless driving, texting while driving, and following too closely after her "inattentive" driving caused her to stop short, resulting in a "chain-reaction crash" behind her involving a minivan, a BMW, and an unidentified fifth vehicle, according to Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli. Authorities have not disclosed which vehicle struck and killed 33-year-old motorcyclist Michael Miktus, only saying that the vehicle pile-up was caused by Nixon's sudden stopping on the southbound side of Route 17 near the Staples Shopping Center in Paramus.

Miktus died of massive trauma and severe blood loss in the 1:45 p.m. pile-up involving his cycle.
