Franklin Lakes Cops Plan 'Aggressive' Drunk Driving Enforcement This Weekend

Local cops say they will be 'cracking down' on impaired driving throughout the holiday weekend.

Local police departments will be out in full force this Fourth of July weekend, a move that cops are saying will hopefully deter drunk driving and prevent deadly accidents.

Franklin Lakes Police issued a warning to residents via an email blast Thursday asking them to stay sober on local roadways.

"Franklin Lakes Police Department wants to remind residents to drink responsibly and use designated drivers this holiday weekend. July 4th celebrations often include cook-outs, picnics, boating, and of course time spent with friends and family. But for too many Americans, the nation's annual celebration is filled with tragedy, as it is one of the deadliest holidays of the year when it comes to alcohol-impaired traffic fatalities," the PD said.

It went on to say it is "imperative" that state and local law enforcement agencies "be out in full force during the Fourth of July weekend, cracking down on impaired drivers with aggressive drunk driving enforcement."
