FLOW Cops Making Unprecedented Number of Heroin Arrests, Chiefs Say

The police departments from Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes, and Oakland will host an event for parents about what they say is an increase in local teen drug use.

The police departments of Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes, and Oakland are coming together for a second time in an attempt to teach parents about local drug use among teens.

The three departments announced Tuesday that they will be hosting a repeat of a drug awareness event last November that drew hundreds of FOW-area parents.

Last year, the departments hosted an investigator from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office who talked about the local increase in prescription drug and heroin use among teens. The three departments will bring the speaker back, this time to Ramapo High School, for an event at 7 p.m. on May 7.

“Your local police departments are making heroin and prescription narcotics arrests in numbers we have never before experienced,” the chiefs of the three departments said in a release about the event.

“This is a significant problem in our towns and your children could be impacted.”
