Alarm Scares Off Burglar at Franklin Lakes Home

Pair in silver sedan evades police

Police were unable to apprehend a would-be burglary suspect who was scared off by an alarm system at an Iron Latch Road home on Tuesday afternoon, according to Franklin Lakes Police.

Borough officers responded to a residential burglar alarm on Iron Latch Road just before 1 p.m. and discovered that someone had forced open a rear door and entered the home.

An interior audible alarm apparently scared the burglars from the scene and no property is believed to be missing, according to the said Franklin Lakes Police.

A neighbor spotted two men in a silver, 4-door sedan with tinted windows leaving the scene and radioed authorities in Wyckoff and Midland Park to be on the lookout, but police did not make an arrest.

Bergen County K-9 units as well as officers from the Oakland Police Department assisted at the scene, and the case in under investigation by the Franklin Lakes Detective Bureau.
