Firefighters Extinguish Burning Mulch Pile at Rousseau's

Fire started by natural causes, officials said.

The extinguished a smoldering pile of mulch behind on Wyckoff Avenue Sunday night.

The incident was likely caused by hot and humind conditions, according to Fire Chief Mike Rose.

"There's a lot of heat and condensation," he said.

Township Committeeman and Wyckoff Fire Department liaison Rudy Boonstra described the situation behind Rousseau's as a "spontaneous combustion."

Firefighters spent about 20 minutes extinguishing the smoking mulch pile. There were no injuries, officials said.
