FBI Report: Violent Crimes, Property Offenses Down in Borough in 2010

Overall, Bergen County crime stats are down from 2009

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has released a report on crime in the United States in 2010, and Bergen County overall fared a bit better than in the previous year.

County-wide, violent crimes were down 4.5 percent and property crimes, including arson, theft and larceny, were down 3 percent.

Here are the numbers for Franklin Lakes for 2010, compared to 2009 numbers. The report only includes offenses known to law enforcement agencies. To view the report for the state of New Jersey, click here.

According to the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program, violent crimes are those that involve force or the threat of force: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.
