Downed Tree Closes Route 208

Traffic diverted for an hour Thursday evening

Wyckoff police and fire responded to the following incidents Thursday:

  • Traffic was diverted off of Route 208 south at approximately 7 p.m. after a tree fell across the roadway.

Police said the tree, which fell between Cedar Hill and Grandview avenues, came to rest on the roadway without hitting any cars or causing any accidents. However, the road was closed until 8:03 p.m., at which time the state Department of Transportation completed their cleanup.

  • The Fire Department was called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash at 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Wishingwell Road.

Police communications had reported that one of the motorists needed to be extricated from her vehicle. However, the motorist, a 63-year-old Wyckoff woman, was able to free herself without assistance.
