Delays Possible Again on Franklin Avenue

Underground storm drain replaced; asphalt needs to be completed

Work crews are expected back today at the railroad tracks off the Main Street and Franklin Avenue intersection.

Although work to replace an underground storm drain was expected to take one day, crews with the New York Susquehanna & Western Railway departed the county road Tuesday before 5 p.m., short of the expected 7 p.m. ending time.

As of Tuesday night, the area in front of the tracks that had received attention was blocked by cones, with crews needing to return to lay asphalt after digging below the surface to access the drain.

The work caused traffic delays Tuesday as police alternated lanes of travel down the busy thoroughfare, with traffic frequently stopped completely as construction vehicles moved about the intersection, just off Boulder Run.
