Could You Handle an Emergency?

CERT classes start next week.

If Franklin Lakes was hit by a disaster, would you be prepared? Whether a flood, explosion, terrorist attack, if a crisis struck the trained emergency services, like fire, police and ambulance corps, would likely be overwhelmed. Enter Community Emergency Response Training (CERT).

An eight-week course, CERT teaches participants what to do in and after an emergency. The two-hour weekly training sessions prepare students to take care of family, neighbors, and the community. 

The training includes disaster preparedness, basic fire suppression, basic medical training and search and rescue operations. The course syllabus is:

March 9: Disaster Medical Operations 2 
March 16: Disaster Fire Suppression, Light Search and Rescue presentation
March 23: Disaster Fire Suppression, Light Search and Rescue practical
March 30: Disaster Psychology and Team Organization
April 4: Terrorism Awareness
April 13: Review and Simulation
