Cops: Teen Charged with DWI After Car Smashes into Pole, Stone Wall

Cops say the 19-year-old Franklin Lakes woman was seriously injured when she drove through several Wyckoff properties and crashed into a retaining wall.

A 19-year-old from Franklin Lakes was seriously injured when police say her 2006 Jeep Liberty crashed into a utility pole, continued driving for about 288 feet, and then hit a stone retaining wall in Wyckoff on Sunday, Police Chief Benjamin Fox said in a release Thursday morning.

The driver, Margaret Kerrigan, was drunk at the time of the accident, Fox said.

According to police, Kerrigan was driving on Brookside Avenue near the Allendale border at about 3:16 a.m. Sunday when she lost control of the car. After hitting the pole, Kerrigan’s car ran over several properties before crashing into the wall, Fox said.
