Police in Franklin Lakes are looking for attempted burglars who reportedly damaged some property, but didn’t make off with any stolen goods.
Sometime after dark Sunday night, a burglar or burglars smashed the front window of the Delta gas station on Franklin Avenue with a squeegee that had been left outside, Det. Lt. John Bakelaar said in a release Monday morning.
Cops believe that the smashed window was an, “[attempt] to burglarize the premises,” but the attempted burglars were not able to gain entry to the gas station building, and no items were reported stolen, Bakelaar said.
The attempted burglary, “seems to be an isolated incident,” he said.
The FLPD Detective Bureau is continuing to investigate the incident under the direction of Officers Robert Smith and Mark McCombs.
