Cops: GameStop Customer May Have Clue in Armed Robbery

Police seek public's help identifying patron who may have crossed paths with the man who held up the video game store.

Franklin Lakes Police think an unidentified man seen in surveillance footage could help them find a gun-wielding robber.

Borough police are turning to the public to try to identify the man, seen above, more than two weeks after the Franklin Avenue GameStop was robbed.

"This department would like to interview the depicted subject in order to determine if in fact he may have witnessed anything pertinent to our investigation," Franklin Lakes Police Lt. John Bakelaar said in a statement Tuesday. "We ask that anyone who may be able to identify this person to contact the Franklin Lakes Police Department, Detective Bureau at 201-891-3131."

A man wearing a ski mask and brandishing an automatic handgun robbed the borough GameStop on Dec. 26, according to police.

Employees from the Franklin Avenue video game store called 911 at approximately 8:45 p.m. Wednesday reporting that a tall male wearing a black, 3-hole ski mask entered the store with a handgun demanding cash from the register, according to police.

The employees handed over approximately $400 and the masked man left the store.

In stills from surveillance footage the possible witness is seen leaving the store at 7:50 p.m. In previously released surveillance footage the masked man is seen exiting the store just after 8:30 p.m.

Police ask that anyone with information regarding this crime call 201-891-3131.

I hope the robber doesn't read the Patch because now he has a picture of the only possible witness to his crime.

I didn't know they had a Gun-Weilding Robber game at GameStop, but I know they have the new Post the ThugsMug Game on video. It's only available at the store on Franklin Ave. right now, but poster's will be popping up in all the stores very soon.
