'Click it or Ticket' Returns to Franklin Lakes

Extra attention will be paid to drivers and passengers as Franklin Lakes gears up for "Click it or Ticket" initiative.

The Franklin Lakes Police Department will be cracking down on drivers and passengers who aren’t buckled up. Starting May 20 and ending June 2, the “Click it or Ticket” campaign will be back.

“Using a seat belt is the simplest way for a motorist and his or her passengers to protect themselves when traveling,” said Gary Poedubicky, Acting Director of the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety. “In 2010 alone, seat belts saved an estimated 12,546 lives nationwide.”

425 police agencies participated in the 2012 “Click it or Ticket” initiative. As a result, 29,307 seatbelt citations, 4,951 speeding summonses and 861 drunk driving arrests were made.
