Burglars Climb Patio Chair to Break Into Franklin Lakes Home, Cops Say

According to police, the burglars stole jewelry from the home's master bedroom.

Burglars climbed a patio chair to break into the window of a Franklin Lakes home Thursday night, borough police announced in a release Friday morning.

According to Franklin Lakes Lt. John Bakelaar, “unknown persons” broke into a home on Alpine Drive Thursday evening by taking a chair from the home’s patio and using it to climb to a bedroom window. The burglars than broke into the window, and entered the home’s rear bedroom, police said.

The burglars stole a “yet-to-be-determined amount of jewelry” from the home’s master bedroom, Bakelaar said.

The homeowner was not home at the time of the break-in, police say. Burglars were likely in and out of the house between 6:22 and 7 p.m. Thursday evening, cops said.

Franklin Lakes Police and the Bergen County Sherriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation unit are continuing the investigation into the burglary.
