Man Arrested After Police Chase, Charged With 16 Offenses By Wyckoff Police

Michael C. Scian was arrested and charged with several offenses including DWI and vehicle violations after eluding Wyckoff police.

The Wyckoff Police Department has released the details regarding the arrest of a Pompton Plains resident who was arrested on July 12 and charged for multiple offenses.

Michael C. Scian, 34, was allegedly clocked driving 74 MPH on Route 208 by Officer James Bakelaar. After the driver exited the highway at Cedar Hill Avenue, Bakeelar pursued the vehicle through several streets as the driver failed to stop.

The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot on Brewster Road, and was observed by a Midland Park police officer and arrested in the area of Sicomac Avenue and Cedar Hill Avenue.

Scian, the registered owner of the vehicle, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, eluding a police officer, and an additional fourteen seperate motor vehicle violations, according to the Wyckoff Police Department.

Scian was released on his own recognizance to a friend with a summons to appear in municipal court. Police Sgt. Michael Ragucci and Police Officer Michael Teegan assisten Officer Bakelaar with the arrest.
