Benz Swiped from Wyckoff Driveway, Police Say

Cops sent out a warning to residents after an unlocked 2007 Mercedes with key fob inside was stolen early Monday morning.

A 2007 white Mercedes Benz GL was stolen from a Wyckoff driveway sometime early Monday morning, township Police Chief Benjamin Fox confirmed. According to Fox, the theft could have been avoided.

The car, which cops value at $25,000, was taken from a Mountain Avenue driveway sometime between 1:30 and 7 a.m. Monday, when the homeowners noticed it was gone and notified police, Fox said.

The SUV had been left unlocked, and the key fob was left inside the vehicle, police said.

“I think that this information speaks for itself as to the obvious precautions that residents should take to protect their cars and the property that might be inside.”

He added, “it's unfortunate that some choose to ignore or are careless about this rather basic advice.”
