Attempted Robbery at Hudson City Savings

Police search for male suspect

Police are looking for a man who they say attempted to rob a Godwin Avenue bank Saturday morning.

Authorities responded to the Hudson City Savings Bank at 261 Godwin Ave. just before 10 a.m. after a panic alarm was sounded. Police would soon receive a 911 call from bank staff, who said an attempted robbery had taken place.

A male with a mustache who was either white or Hispanic had approached a teller with a note that stated, "Please give me $1,000 or whatever you have in the drawer," police said. The teller reportedly shrugged his shoulders, and the suspect turned around and walked out of the bank without any money. The suspect was seen walking east on Godwin Avenue, and he was wearing a red baseball cap and a red and black striped shirt, police said.
