$3.5K Donation Will Buy CO Detectors for Wyckoff FD

Saint Nicolas Orthodox Church made donations to the township Fire Department and Ambulance Corps Tuesday night.

Wyckoff’s fire chiefs will now be able to monitor carbon dioxide levels at fires they respond to, thanks to a donation the township accepted Tuesday night.

According to a release from the township, Saint Nicolas Orthodox Church and Chapter 453 of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association donated $3,500 to Wyckoff - $1,500 for the Fire Department and $2,000 for the Ambulance Corps.

The FD plans to use the money to buy two multi-gas meters to be installed into the fire chief’s and assistant fire chief’s cars, the release said.

“Currently neither vehicle has any gas or CO meters and since they are the first to arrive on the scene, these meters will assist in providing a more expedient size up/evaluation of the emergency call,” the release said.

The Ambulance Corps. plans to use the donation to buy emergency preparedness supplies like cots, blankets, and more, it said.
