No Need to Pick 3

When you go to the polls next week, it'll say pick 3 candidates for BOE for Franklin Lakes K-8. Many people feel obligated to choose 3. However, its your prerogative to choose 1, 2 or 3 candidates. My point is that you should get to know the candidates well and ensure you vote for folks whom you have ample evidence will be an asset to the Board. I think we all want to be proud of those we voted. If you can't be confident in the candidate,  then you may want to consider your voting choices. It is each candidate's and their supporters responsibility to educate voters. In this year's election there is a stark difference in visibility, support letters, participation in events and information on platforms. While I commend all four candidates on their willingness to serve, I can convey first hand that serving as a Trustee is a significant commitment of time and a significant amount of work preparing for and participating on an informed basis. In my opinion, thus far,  Trustee Christopoul and former Trustee Schwartz have provided the public with ample evidence regarding their qualifications and approach to public service. They have done this via their inventory of historical votes as well as robust campaigns aimed at detailing their approach to education. After a tumultuous Spring, leadership changes on the Board combined with commitments by all Trustees to enhancing Board relationships has resulted in more efficient meetings, reduced rhetoric and re-staffing of all critical administrative positions in a timely manner. As this Board moves forward, we need stability and experience over surprises.
