We need Shop Rite now more than ever!

We need Shop Rite now more than ever!!

In the aftermath of Sandy, I couldn't help but think about how helpful it would  have been to the residents of Wyckoff to have Shop Rite open in our town.  With shortages in gas and food, we were relegated to one option.....Stop and Shop.  Prices were higher than ever....and even more importantly, shelves were bare.  Please, town officials, let us make the plea one more time.....APPROVE THE INSERRA APPLICATION!!!!

yes, at times the shelves at stop & shop were bare but sooner than later they were re-stocked. I personally did not notice any price hikes during the height of the storm. where an additional super market is welcomed by most including myself, lets' not undeservingly knock stop & shop.....i believe they performed to the best of their abilities considering the situation....they were open the very next day after the storm.

With at least 9 supermarkets within a 10 minute drive from the center of Wyckoff, the addition of a Shop Rite at an already horrible traffic point is absurd. However, after the Township Committee and leaders bent over forwards to allow the monstrosity that now exists at Boulder Run, I offer this compromise: bulldoze that abomination, turn it into a park and then proceed with the Shop Rite. Of course, with the Cuba/North Korea type of one party rule that the voters in this town perpetuate for no apparent reason other than they are too lazy to change it, this would never come to pass. Instead, under the guise of 'keeping taxes low or not raising them" this unnecessary petition will be allowed to pass turning the center of town into an ever more gridlocked mess. And then you'll be too busy stuck in traffic to notice your taxes going up anyway.

I really don't hit much traffic ever in Wyckoff. Sure I have to wait a minute or so sometimes.. big deal. We can't have a 2nd supermarket but we can have 150 banks taking up all of the places that could have been parks or even dog runs? We should be called Bankoff, not Wyckoff. Just my thought. To each their own.

I recently heard a plausible, if hypothetical, scenario. It explains why Stop and Shop has pulled out all the stops to prevent Shoprite from opening. Imagine this: Shoprite opens and continues their low-price reputation. A year or two later, Stop and Shop closes, like Kings before it. Hekemian desperately needs a new "anchor" for Boulder Run. The S&S site is marked "hopeless" by other food chains, because of Shoprite. Home Depot, Lowes, or even .... shudder ... Wal-Mart moves in.

Let's face it - Stop and Shop compared to Shop-Rite is a "huge barn" with unstocked shelves, no help and could be cleaner; especially in the dairy department. After speaking to many of our store-keepers in Wyckoff, they want Shop-Rite. It would certainly bring more revenue to the town and perhaps lower our taxes. Let's move on and approve the Inserra Application!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Concerned!- You must not drive in this area around 4pm. The traffic is so bad that Franklin Ave is backed up to Waldwick! MeerAveResident- It's highly doubtful that Stop&Shop with close up and leave town with ShopRite as it is own by large parent company. True though ShopRite would definitely provide competition for Stop and Shop. Lastly, the shelve were bare because like most places with out electric most of the perishable products had to be thrown away. While they ordered more product the warehouse and outside vendors most likely we out of product too trying to supply the supermarkets with new product and add to that the store being busy before then for the lack of power many needed to go to the store everyday or everyother day for perishables. I'm quite sure that Stop& Shop was not the only store with bare shelves. Lastly- the company and board of health has a strict protocol for cleaning with in the store. Coming from a family of supermarket employees I would be one of the first to notice if the store was not clean. Wyckoff Stop & Shop is one the cleanest stores in the area.

There are at least 8 other stores within a 10 minute drive besides Wyckoff Stop & Shop -- 2 in MIdland Park, 2 in Ridgewood, 1 each in Oakland, Allendale, Ramsey or Fr. Lakes. You are either grinding an axe on behalf of Inserra/Shop Rite or so lacking in perspective that you see fit to complain about this. C'mon Kathy Marsico, you're better than that. GXR

It would be nice to have another local option. Shop rite also carries brands that the other local stores do not.

Very plausible scenario. To continue the "what, if" here, assuming this plays out, what if another retailer cannot be found to replace Stop & Shop? Let's say we get a government agency to fill the space? Or the vacant property gets a slight modification to allow for residential apartments to be built in the vacant Stop & Shop space? A steady chorus of "create jobs, put the property on the tax rolls, be done with it" leads the ZB to approve a record # of variances to allow this. Say it can't happen? See where we might be going with this? The ZB would never allow it, right? Right?......(crickets) GXR

The best part? It has a roomy interior but is still small enough to be brought on a plane as a carry on. http://www.mbtshoesukshoes.com/ http://www.burchshoes.com/ http://www.tory-flats.com http://www.bagsforgirl.com/ http://www.borsegucci-italia.com http://www.gucciuk-bags.com http://www.gucci-outlethandbags.com/ http://www.gucci-forsale.com/ http://www.louboutin-shoescheap.com/ http://www.hermesbagssale-outlet.com/ http://www.christian-louboutinoutlets.com/ http://www.christian-louboutinoutlets.com/
