See the Wyckoff Reformed Church Out of Gingerbread

It will be on display this weekend at the Zabriskie House.

Last year, it was the Zabriskie House. The year before, the Wyckoff town hall.

This year, longtime township resident and member of the Historical Society Barbara Petruccelli has chosen to craft the Wyckoff Reformed Church out of gingerbread and candy.

“I love architectural history, and I try to top my creations each year,” Petruccelli, who said she’s been making gingerbread houses since she was a kid, said.

“The Wyckoff Reformed Church is really beautiful, and it has a long history.”

Petruccelli said the gingerbread version took her about three weeks to construct.

“It’s got a lot of detail, down to candy made to look like stained glass windows,” she said.

To see the creation, locals can head to the Zabriskie House’s Holiday Open House this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The house on Franklin Avenue – believed to be the oldest one in Wyckoff – will be fully decorated, hosting tours, and inviting locals to enjoy some 18th Century Christmas traditions.

“It is really a wonderful event,” Petruccelli said.

Visitors to the event are asked to pay a $5 donation.
