Kids Can 'Driver Safer' While Raising Money for RIH Project Graduation

There is still time to sign up for Saturday's fundraiser at MetLife Stadium.

Parent groups at Indian Hills and Ramapo High Schools are looking to raise money for the schools’ after-prom night celebrations, and they say they’ve found a way to do it that can help kids “Drive Safer.”

This Saturday, the schools are running a fundraiser at MetLife Stadium. Local parents can sign their kids up tp take a Drive Safer course at the stadium, and a portion of the proceeds from each lesson will go to the schools’ Project Graduation fund.

The class parents of the Class of 2014 released the following information about the course:

Drive Safer provides the premier car control and defensive driving courses. Along with offering participants hands-on experience in real-life driving scenarios from certified driving instructors, teens also have access to and unique tools - like the Drive Safer Skid Car, which teaches car control – and added bonuses like insurance discounts and license point reductions.

The fundraiser could be a useful seminar for new drivers, organizers say.

“Motor vehicle accidents are the number one killer of teens in the US, and this has to stop,” Jason Friedman, CEO of Drive Safer, said.

“Many parents don’t have access to the critically important information that they need to protect and teach their teens how to safely operate and control their car.  This is why we work with local high schools to present programs like this.”

Barb Linquito, the Indian Hills Class of 2014 Class Mom, said a group of parent volunteers just started the fundraiser this year. Saturday’s event will mark the second one, and more sessions will be offered next spring.

“The kids who go really come out learning a lot,” Linquito said.

Locals can sign up for the fundraiser by going to www.DriveSafer.com and clicking on “Register Now.” Students must indicate their high school when signing up so the funds get donated to the proper school.
