Wyckoff Y Reaches Expanded Fundraising Goal

The $150,000 in funds will support programming for children facing economic hardship.

The Wyckoff YMCA has reached an annual fundraising targeted, a notch above last year's, for its “Strong Kids Campaign,” the organization announced.

“Strong Kids” funds the Oasis camp, a program that brings inner city kids from Paterson to use the Y’s facilities, as well as financial support for children who would otherwise be unable to participate in YMCA programming due to economic hardship.

The effort toward this year’s $150,000 goal, a $25,000 increase over last year’s fundraising, kicked off during the winter and included a phone-a-thon run by the the Y’s seniors group, the “Lap the Lake” race at the Indian Trail Club, as well as special events and contributions from Y staff and area residents.

“One hundred percent of the donations to the Strong Kids Campaign benefit children and families in need,” said Y executive director Joyce Vottero.

“Our goal is to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors who are going through personal challenges by providing them with full access to Y programs and services, regardless of what they can afford to pay. We deeply appreciate the support from the community throughout our fundraising efforts.”
