Towns Plan Double Dose Oktoberfest Celebrations

Both Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes will host an Oktoberfest event this month, each benefitting a different cause.

Tis the season for Oktoberfest celebrations that will benefit local groups and projects.

Both Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes are planning Oktoberfest events this month, and each one will benefit a different cause.

In Wyckoff, an Oktoberfest event on October 17 is benefitting the township’s Parks and Fields. It’s happening from 7 to 11 p.m. at McBride Field in Franklin Lakes, and tickets are $150 each.

It’s set to include German food, beer and wine from the Market Basket, and music from the Oompa Band.

Proceeds from the event will help fund planned improvement projects like enhancements at the Memorial Field complex, a redesign at Pulis Field that would allow for greater access to the park, and outdoor renovations at the Larkin House.

The same field will play host to Franklin Lakes’s Oktoberfest, happening just two days later.

According to a release from the borough, proceeds from the October 19 event will benefit the Franklin Lakes Public Safety Trust Fund, a trust fund dedicated for capital improvements and purchases for the Police Department, Fire Department, Ambulance Corps and Office of Emergency Management.

The event is set to begin at 7 p.m., will include German food, beer, wine, and live entertainment. Tickets are $150 each.

In the release, Mayor Frank Bivona urged residents to attend.

“We are fortunate to live in a borough with so many brave residents, who volunteer their time and talents to public safety services. We also have a professional, dedicated public safety team, whom we call upon daily to respond to our emergency needs,” he said.

“The Public Safety Trust Fund will further the town’s efforts to provide our volunteers and emergency personnel with the updated facilities and equipment they need to ensure our safety.”
