Team Franklin Lakes Cares Raises $2K toward Autism Walk

Fundraiser was at Valley Stables in Oakland.

An autism fundraiser held in Franklin Lakes last month united supporters and raised some big bucks for the cause, according to one of the event's organizers.

Team Franklin Lakes Cares, a group from Axis Insurance that will be walking in the New Jersey Walk Now for Autism at MetLife Stadium on May 18 hosted a fundraiser last month at Valley Stables in Oakland. Organizer Mike Smith wrote the following letter to Patch about the event.

Overall we had about 120 people show up for the event at the Valley Stables.  There was live music and we were able to sign up about 20 additional people for the walk in May to help raise money and awareness of the cause.

As a result of the event we were able to raise about $2,000 for Autism Speaks , including a $1,000 contribution by the Valley Stables restaurant.

This brings our groups total raised to date to over $6,000 towards our goal of $10,000.
