Pizzarelli, Pallo, Vignola Among Performers at Les Paul 99th Birthday Gala

On Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 7:30 p.m., the Mahwah Museum is hosting The Les Paul 99th Birthday Gala at The Trustees Pavilion at Ramapo College of New Jersey.

The Gala will include performances by Bucky Pizzarelli and Ed Laub. The list of musicians Pizzarelli has collaborated with over his career includes Les Paul, Stephane Grappelli, and Benny Goodman. Pizzarelli acknowledges Django Reinhardt as a major influence. In addition, Lou Pallo, long time Les Paul Trio guitarist will bring a trio including singer/bassist Nicki Parrott and world renowned jazz guitarist Frank Vignola. Vignola acknowledges Les Paul, Eddie Van Halen and Frank Zappa as principle influences musically. Master luthier and virtuoso guitarist Tom Doyle along with Sandy Doyle will also perform in the tradition of Les Paul and Mary Ford.

Also included at the gala will be a silent auction of Les Paul memorabilia, and a live auction of autographed guitars, including a Hofner “Beatle Bass” guitar autographed by Paul McCartney. Wine, hors d’oeuvres, and light fare will be served, and a raffle drawing for three autographed guitars will be held.

The Gibson Factory Bus will be open for viewing at Ramapo College between 6PM and 11PM on June 14 before and during the Gala. The Gisbon Bus is used by many touring musicians. It has beautifully designed living and sleeping areas, two sound studios, and is decorated with Gibson memorabilia. Visitors can speak to a Gibson representative and play some very special Gibson guitars

Gala tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at www.mahwahmuseum.org , at the Mahwah Museum, 201 Franklin Turnpike, on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays between 1 and 4 pm. Doors open at 7:00PM.

Raffle tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Museum, through the mail, at Devon Fine Jewelry, Robbie's Music, Altos Music, or at the Gala. Gala attendance is not required to participate in the raffle.

The Museum is open weekends and Wednesdays from 1-4 p.m. The permanent exhibit “The Donald Cooper Model Railroad” is open on weekends only from 1-4 p.m. Admission to the Museum is $5 for non-members; children and members free.
