Christopoul, Schwartz, Zolfo Win Franklin Lakes BOE Seats

Unofficial voting results released by borough Tuesday night.

A contentious Board of Education election in Franklin Lakes is over, and incumbent Christine Christopoul, past board member Kathie Schwartz, and school board newcomer Anthony Zolfo have won seats on the board, according to unofficial results released by the borough Tuesday night.

The three candidates received more votes than challenger Ralph Valvano, who came in fourth in the four-way race, according to borough clerk initial tallies.

Preliminary results show the candidates receiving the following numbers of votes:

  • Christine Christopoul – 1,218
  • Kathie Schwartz – 929
  • Anthony Zolfo – 896
  • Ralph Valvano – 874

The results of Tuesday night’s election are unofficial, as provisional and absentee ballots have yet to be counted, and the votes have not yet been certified by the county.
