Veterans Celebrated at YMCA

The yearly event was held to honor those serving the United States.

The Second Annual “Roll Call For Our Veterans” breakfast was hosted by the Wyckoff Family YMCA on Tuesday, April 23. More than 300 vets and their guests attended the morning celebration of those in service to our country.

United States Marine Corps Major Jennifer Bone and Corporal Amy McCambridge spoke powerfully about their personal stories of the military and how it has affected their lives in the past 10 to 15 years.

The crowd of mostly Vietnam, Korea, and even several WWII era vets, gave standing ovations to both women who not only impressed but also inspired their audience. The day also included pomp and circumstance: The Wyckoff Family YMCA Pre-K class led the flag salute; the Vietnam Veterans of America Bergen County Chapter 800 from Little Ferry posted the colors; local talent Alexis Rodda led the National Anthem; entertainment was provided by the Blue Chip Chorus of Bergen County as well as the Police Pipes and Drums of Bergen County. Father Charles Arlin of St. John’s Episcopal Church in New City , NY, offered the invocation and benediction.
