Several Injured in Godwin Ave. Crash

At least three people were given medical attention at the scene of a two-car accident at the intersection of Godwin Avenue and Prospect Street.

Several people were injured following a car crash at the intersection of Godwin Avenue and Prospect Street in Midland Park Friday afternoon.

At least three people were treated at the scene and boarded onto stretchers then into ambulances in the motor vehicle accident, which appeared to be a two car crash.

The extent of the injuries was not immediately clear.

The accident occurred at approximately 2:25 p.m. and shut down traffic on the busy thoroughfare traveled by those commuting through Midland Park to nearby towns such as Ridgewood, Wyckoff, Glen Rock, and Waldwick.

The Midland Park Highland Avenue Elementary School is several hundred feet away on Highland Avenue.

Traffic was shut down on roads leading to the intersection for approximately half an hour on this first week back at school. Cars were moving again by approximately 3 p.m.

Midland Park police and fire and EMS were in command at the scene. Wyckoff EMS, Ridgewood Police, Valley Hospital Mobile ICU, assisted at the scene.

Officials on the scene were unavailable for comment.

Several local residents on the scene said the intersection, which has a three way traffic light and multiple turning lanes, was not typically dangerous.

Scary! I am the owner of the jewelry / gift shop winnie & belle right there on Godwin Ave. I watch cars constantly speed and go left heading into traffic on Godwin trying to turn left on Highland Ave. It is very confusing how to turn left there. Very dangerous intersection. Surprised there, are not more, accidents! Mari Keating Schofield Owner winnie & belle Midland,Park, NJ
