Avia Thanks Wyckoff Residents for Support

Send Letters to the Editor to Joseph.Gerace@patch.com

To the editor:

I wish to express my thanks to the people of Wyckoff who showed their support for me by casting their votes on Election Day, especially with so many still enduring the after-effects of Hurricane Sandy.

During my campaign, I had many opportunities to speak with wonderful people who care deeply about the future of our town. It would have been my privilege to serve them and all of the citizens of Wyckoff as a member of the Township Committee.

I will continue to work on the Wyckoff Green Team, Partners in Pride, and the Garden Club to help keep Wyckoff a wonderful place to live. Being actively involved in this community for over 30 years has not only permitted me to give back to Wyckoff, it has enriched my life, as well.

I look forward to many years of service to the people of Wyckoff in the future.

Eileen Avia

Thank you Ms. Avia for running a positive campaign even though your opponents resorted to unfounded attacks on you personally. These kinds of tactics have no place in a local election. "Mayor" DePhillips' attempts to besmirch your many volunteer activities because you happened not to attend the fundraiser for his favorite cause [the turf field group] was hypocritical and deceitful. Too bad he didn't pay as much attention to our power outages over the last 2 weeks!

Despite what the vote outcome was, you, Ms. Avia, are the true WINNER!!! While you won't be able to bring your talents & vast knowledge of Wyckoff to the TC, we the people are blessed to have some of your caliber and character in our town. My thanks and heart-felt gratitude go out to you.
