Wyckoff Mom Starts 'Party-in-a-Box' Business

Longtime Wyckoff resident has been a Girl Scout leader, PTO member, realtor, and is now an entrepreneur.

After building up a resume of vast experiences, a Wyckoff mom has started a new business that she says will be a party.

Patricia Hogan said that she came up with the idea for ‘Victoria's Favorite Parties Around The World’ over a decade ago, when her young children were attending friends’ parties nearly every weekend.

“Between [my] children’s school, recreation, dance, piano, neighbor and family party invites, [they] were enjoying an abundance of celebrations…and many wonderful party themes,” she said.

Her idea was a bit different – a “party-in-a-box” that offered a unique theme of celebrations from around the world.

Her plans to develop the business in the late 1990s was put on hold when she had her third child and decided to go back to school to get her second degree in English Literature, her teaching certification from William Paterson University, and her real estate license.

Over the past 15 years she’s held various volunteer and professional positions in the community. Hogan has been a cheerleading coach through the Wyckoff Recreation Department, a CCD Teacher at St. Elizabeth’s, a Girl Scout Leader, member of the Washington School PTO, and working as a teacher and realtor, now with the Coldwell Banker office in Wyckoff.

Hogan has also written a published screenplay, Where Whispers Softly Echoed, a psychological thriller set in Saddle River that follows the life of a divorced realtor. She is currently seeking a producer for the work.

After accomplishing many of her other “lifelong goals,” Hogan said she was finally able to start her business earlier this year.

Hogan said she named the party-in-a-box business, victoriasfavoritepartiesfranklinlakesnj.com, “after my daughter Victoria with whom [I] became pregnant when [I thought of the idea years ago].”

She currently runs the business through an online portal that sells everything from party props, décor and tableware to favors and themed sets.

So far, she said the business has been off to a good start.

“This is my latest venture,” she said, adding that she hopes locals will enjoy browsing her site when looking for themed party-in-a-box options.
