Resident Opens New 'Digital' Dentist's Office in Wyckoff

Dr. Fred Puccio has been practicing in Garfield for 19 years, and said he has always wanted to open a practice in his own community.

A longtime township resident who says he has a passion for high tech dentistry has opened a new office in Wyckoff.

The new Midland Family Dental Care of Wyckoff held a Grand Opening at its new location, 243 Morse Ave., Saturday.

Dentist Fred Puccio has owned and operated a practice in Garfield for 19 years, but when a previous dentist’s office became available in Wyckoff, he said he was anxious to open a second practice in his own community.

“I’ve always felt that it was important for a professional to offer services in the town he lives in,” Puccio said. “You’ve got the personal relationships there. It’s always been my dream to open an office in Wyckoff.”

The office, he said, is not a typical dentist’s office. The space has been entirely renovated. Puccio said everything, down to the wall paint, is antibacterial.

“It’s a really sterile, safe environment for patients, but its got a homey feel to it.”

And, according to the dentist, it’s high tech.

“From the minute you walk in, you can see that this isn’t a typical office,” he said.

“Everything we do is digital, even regular x-rays. They use much less radiation and are more environmentally friendly because you’re not using all of those harsh chemicals to print them.”

Puccio also performs Cerec restorations, which he described as “digital restorative dentistry.” Cerec uses computers to scan teeth and create veneers that better fit into patients’ mouths, he said. The office is also equipped with 3D scanners and tools for laser dentistry.

“I’m expecting this to be a really service oriented environment,” he said.

In addition to running his two practices, Puccio is also teaching an advanced cosmetic dentistry course at NYU, his alma mater.

“It’s exciting to be on the cutting edge and to be involved in all of these new technologies,” he said.

“It really has made me so passionate about the work I do in Garfield, at NYU, and now here in Wyckoff.”
