O&R Names New President

The current CEO is heading to a new gig at O&R's parent company, Con Edison.

The utility company that provides electricity to parts of Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes will be under new leadership in 2014.

Orange & Rockland announced in a release this week that Timothy P. Cawley, the senior vice president of Central Operations at ConEd, will take over as its President and CEO starting December 1. ConEd is O&R’s parent company.

Cawley will succeed John McAvoy who, after serving in the position for a year, was named President and CEO of ConEd. McAvoy will replace Kevin Burke, who will retire December 31.

According to the release, Cawley’s many positions held with the company since 1987 make him a good candidate for the job.

“As senior vice president of Central Operations, Cawley has responsibilities for planning, design, operations and maintenance of electric generation, transmission and substations systems, the generation and distribution of the steam system and construction activities for the company,” O&R said.
