Bill and Joel Werner of Wyckoff, long time friends of the Jonas family, hosted a fund raising event at their home on Wednesday evening, May 2, honoring Kevin Jonas, Sr., and the contributions he has made to the American Diabetes Association, raising much needed funds to support diabetes research, education and advocacy. At Kevin Jonas's request, Bill Werner has taken on the role of fund raising chairman for the Northeast.

The dinner brought out many of Bergen’s best who pledged their support to the ADA by making online donations in Kevin’s name and bidding on silent auction items, many of which were donated by local area merchants.

Since 1999, The American Diabetes Association has partnered with the National Father’s Day Council to host the Father of the Year Awards dinner. Each year, men from across the nation are recognized for the strength, commitment and love they exhibit as fathers. These men have attained success not only in their chosen field, but have also carved out precious time to teach and nurture their children while becoming model citizens and proud members of the community.

Son of Kevin and Denise, Nick, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2005 when he was just 13 years old. Diabetes affects nearly 26 million children and adults nationwide. More than $25 million has been raised from Father of the Year events to help the ADA fund essential education, advocacy and research initiatives.

Past honorees include: John F. Kennedy, Frank Sinatra, Ronald Reagan, Tim Russert, Henry Fonda, Rudy Giuliani, Colin Powell, Michael Bloomberg, Yogi Berra, and Walter Cronkite. For a complete listing of past honorees, visit www.momanddadday.com.
