Wyckoff Education Foundation Plans October 5K and Fun Run

Proceeds from the annual event will benefit township schools. Last year's race helped pay for a new robotics lab at Eisenhower Middle School.

The Wyckoff Education Foundation is raising money for township schools in a family-fun, healthy way this fall.

The WEF announced this week its 2013 5K Run & One-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, October 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Eisenhower Middle School.

The annual event features a certified 5K race, and a one-mile fun run that concludes with prizes, and a “Family Fun Zone” party with a DJ, games, rides, food and drinks.

“The annual Fall Run/Walk is one of our larger WEF fundraisers of the year and we always can count on the support of our Wyckoff community,” Kevin Amerio, President of WEF, said in a release.

The WEF raises money each year to support the Wyckoff school system.

“Our current STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology & Math) initiative in the Wyckoff schools [has] been well received and we look forward to funding a number of programs in 2013/2014,” Amerio said. “The funds from last year’s event allowed WEF to support a new Robotics Lab at Eisenhower Middle School and various other STEM programs within the Elementary Schools across the district”

Since its inception in 1990, the WEF has raised over $1.4 million for the Wyckoff school district, which it has awarded through grants to the Board of Education.

Race participant fees are $25 or $20 for USATF Members. Family Fun Run/Walk fees are $15 for Adults & $10 for children, with a $45 family maximum.
