YMCA Brings Opera to Wyckoff

Wyckoff Y offering two opera events

The Wyckoff Y is presenting two special events for opera lovers in March.

On Wednesday, March 6, come along with the Y to see an encore presentation of “Verdi’s Rigoletto” live in HD at the AMC Theatre at Garden State Plaza.

Director Michael Mayer has placed his new production of Verdi’s towering tragedy in Las Vegas in 1960.  Piotr Beczala is the womanizing Duke, Zeljko Lucic is his tragic sidekick, Rigoletto, and Diana Damrau is Rigoletto’s daughter, Gilda.  Approximate show running time is 3:31.  Bus departs the Y at 4:30 p.m. for a 6:30 show.  Tickets are $25 for Y Members; and $28 for Non-Members.  Call the Y’s front desk at 201-891-2081.

Come to the Y’s Carl Pfeifer Performing Arts Center to enjoy “Beloved Opera Treasures and Desserts from Around the World” on Sunday, March 10 at 2 p.m.  This afternoon of German, Italian, Czech, Russian, and French opera favorites features artists:  Josh Benevento (Metropolitan Opera Finalist), Adelmo Guidarelli, Reegan McKenzie (Metropolitan Opera Finalist), Alexis Rodda (Metropolitan Opera Finalist) and Jacquelyn Karl.  The production is accompanied by Georgianna Pappas.  Champagne, light desserts and coffee will be sold in the lobby during intermission.  This is a fundraiser to support the Opera 691 fall production of “Hansel & Gretel.”  Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for children under 12 and seniors.  Email tiffanyr@wyckoffymca.org with questions.

The Wyckoff Y is located at 691 Wyckoff Avenue in Wyckoff.
