Watercolor 'Artist of the Month' on Display in Franklin Lakes

Wife and mother Roberta Oliver has won numerous awards for her artwork.

A borough artist who says she is inspired by nature, hiking, and the state of Florida has clinched the Franklin Lakes 'Artist of the Month' honor for January.

According to a release from the borough Library, resident Roberta Oliver has been chosen as its artist of the month, and her work is currently on display at the library.

Oliver, a Morris County native, "has been drawing and painting since she can remember," a release about her work said.

"Her love of hiking, nature, and animals inspired her to paint subjects from her natural surroundings. Her years in Florida strongly influenced her beautiful seascapes in watercolor."

The mom of two has received numerous awards for her artwork, including First Place in Florida at the Anna Maria Island Art League and an Award of Excellence for her work in the 2013 Essex Watercolor Fall Member Show, the release said.
