See the Zabriskie House in Gingerbread

Wyckoff's Barbra Petruccelli crafted this very nifty edible facsimile of the township landmark

The Van Voorhees Quackenbush Zabriskie House is holding its open house on Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. until  3 p.m.

Not only will visitors get to see the beautiful 18th century historic home, but they'll also get to check out the Great Gingerbread Zabriskie made by Barbara Petruccelli.

Architectural baking is a tradition Petruccelli has been involved in for about 20 years, she said: "I started out baking small ones and then made one of an old Victorian house and gradually they got more elaborate."

You can tour actual Zabriskie House and gaze upon the Great Gingerbread Zabriskie on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 421 Franklin Ave. in Wyckoff.

The see-thru window panes are awesome! I was lucky to see this house up close recently, you really need to check out all the detail. The house glows from interior lights, she even has a decorated tree in the house! What wonderful talent and holiday spirit! Great job Barbara!

The Zabriskie House in Wyckoff is one of the oldest houses in Town. Built in 1730 this house has a collection of artwork and antiques rivaling those of some museums. This beautiful Landmark relies on donations for its upkeep and is unable to do some of these due to lack of funds. Barbara Petrucelli will give this gingerbread on Dec. 18th to the person who makes the highest offer and I will donate all proceeds to the John & Grace Zabriskie memorial fund. The gingerbread is now displayed at Chocolate Etc., 382 Main Street Wyckoff and can be viewed and picked up there on Dec. 18th. Anyone interested in making an offer please email zabriskiegingerbread@gmail.com, starting point is $200.00. Take home the Zabriskie house in gingerbread for a good cause! Patch Editor, please continue to follow this story and help spread the word by featuring this update re Mrs. Petrucelli's generous and creative donation on your Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes news alert.
