Acclaimed Folk Duo to Appear at Wyckoff Y
Folk duo The Kennedys will bring their national “endless tour” to town Thursday for a lakeside show at the Wyckoff YMCA.
Husband and wife Pete and Maura Kennedy both began on the east coast before meeting in Austin, TX, in the early 90s and going on to accompany artists such as Byrds singer Roger McGuinn and Grammy winning folk singer Nanci Griffith.
The pair has been on the road in varying musical ventures for the last twenty years—their first date was a road trip to Buddy Holly’s grave, a biography says—and the Wyckoff gig sits between a run in the Northeast and a string of September shows on the West Coast.

The duo incorporates pop influences and a wide range of both classic and contemporary covers into their two-guitar acoustic act. Their latest and twelfth album, “Closer Than You Know,” earned acclaim from Rolling Stone and the Village Voice for its “irresistible” pop sensibility.
The group will perform at the Wyckoff YMCA’s Spring Lake Thursday at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from the Y for $8 in advance or $12 the day of the show.
