Trouble Spots for Wyckoff Traffic Accidents

Traffic accidents clustered around township's commercial areas.

Which Wyckoff intersections have the most car crashes?

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the top hotspots for motor vehicle accidents are centered along Franklin Avenue in Wyckoff's central business district.

According to data provided by the Wyckoff Police Department on reported accidents since 2011, the intersections of Franklin Avenue with Wyckoff and Godwin Avenues have annually ranked in the top three accident-prone spots, though the intersection of 208 with Cedar Hill Avenue, nearby shopping center, is a close third.

The intersection of Franklin Avenue and Godwin Avenue has seen 57 accidents since 2011, according to police records, while the Franklin Avenue intersection with Wyckoff Avenue has seen 56.

Chief Benjamin Fox said though some of the accidents are left turn crashes in the middle of the intersection, that’s not typically the case. Most of the accidents, he said, are rear-end accidents approaching red lights, and turns into and out of nearby parking lots.

And the volume of reported accidents is high in parking lots themselves. Boulder Run, according to police, has had 86 since 2011 - double that of other township parking lots, though Fox noted that most are low-speed collisions and hit and runs to parked cars.
