Breast Cancer Survivor Creates Stylish and Inspirational Gifts

Lisa McGorry, a Bergen County, New Jersey breast cancer survivor, remembers getting gifts from friends as she underwent treatment.  While each and every token of affection brought a smile to her face, she realized there were scarce resources where friends and relatives could purchase unique, stylish and inspirational gifts tailored for women diagnosed with cancer.

Lisa eventually started her own business, Thrive Enterprises, www.thrive-lifestyle.com, after spending weeks online searching for a medical alert that her surgeon required her to wear, and coming away disappointed when she found none that could also serve as a fashionable accessory.  With no jewelry experience, Lisa decided she would design an alert using high-quality beads that sports the medical symbol and the word “thrive.”   She then went on to make a second ID piece that also includes her Thrive logo but replacing the letter “I” with the well-recognized cancer awareness ribbon.  Lisa chose not make the ribbon pink, and her top-sellers are in beautiful shades of green.

She also has designed a tee-shirt with her Thrive logo that she envisions can be handed out at races and worn proudly long after the runners have crossed the finish line.

“I want others to feel good during difficult times in their lives, and Thrive bracelets and tee shirt represent a daily reminder that it is possible to live with and overcome life-threatening diseases” says Lisa.  “My mission is to continue to create stylish and inspirational items that will resonate and create positive feelings for the wearer, and I am grateful to be able to touch the lives of other women.”

Ten percent of Thrive Enterprise’s net profits go to cancer research.
