Free Screening for Diabetes at a Health Fair Designed with You in Mind

The American Diabetes Association estimates that more than 25 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes, and that almost two million new cases are diagnosed each year. To better serve the community, Bergen County hospitals and the county’s Department of Health are working together to offer community members free A1C screens for diabetes at health fairs being held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at four Bergen County Hospitals. Pre-registration is required, and appointments are limited. Call to schedule a screening.

The Bergen County Collaborative’s mission to improving community health includes depression and substance-abuse screenings which will be available at all four locations on April 5. As a member of the Bergen County Collaborative, Ramapo Ridge Psychiatric Hospital at Christian Health Care Center is committed to providing mental- health services to those in need, and will follow up with those screened at The Valley Hospital location.

No pre-registration is required for depression and other screenings available that day, including substance abuse, blood pressure, BMI, and waist and hip measurements.
